Tour FAQ's

1) The FORE Tour was founded in 2014 and the first year was held in New Philadelphia, OH. There were 18 players at that Tour.

2) Since 2014, there have been 81 different players who have played at least one round in the FORE Tour. There are 8 players still actively playing since 2014.

3) The La Prima Trophy was added in 2016 and originally was just supposed to be a joke. Retired member, Joe "Uncle Sexy" Kevern, had a bottle of La Prima that would always be on the bar at his annual parties and not one person would ever touch it. He needed to find a way to get rid of it, and here we are today! His son Brian carries on the tradition as the Tour's La Prima Ambassador.

4) There have actually been 2 hole-in-ones hit on the FORE Tour (Mike Tyna and Chuck Jobe), and they were hit in back-to-back years on the first day of the Tour.

5) The original concept of the Tour was to travel all over Ohio every year and play in different towns and golf courses that we normally would never would play. The idea was squashed in year 2 when researching other accommodations in Ohio and found that there weren't many places that could accommodate our large group.

6) The Pine Lakes Stay & Play accommodations were created by Pine Lakes Golf Club in 2014. This package wasn't well known at the time. Mike stumbled across it in year 2 while researching for other areas around Ohio.

7) The lowest team score ever recorded on the FORE Tour is -8, and it was at the Links at Firestone Farms in 2024 (visit the website under Championship Teams to view the winning team that day).

8) The highest team score ever recorded on the FORE Tour is +11, and it was at Avalon Squaw Creek in 2020 (visit the website under Championship Teams to view the losing team that day.. aka winners of the La Prima Trophy).

9) Our group is now Pine Lake's largest and longest tenured group currently at 44 golfers through 13 years (2015-2026).

10) The JFK bedroom is the only room in the Mansion that has special significance. John F. Kennedy stayed at the Pine Lakes Mansion in that room when he was governor.

11) There have been 2 players (Shawn Heitner & Sam Starr) who have pulled off the Trifecta (win all 3 tournaments). Sam Starr did this in back-to-back years and won the following year's day 1 tournament, making him 7-0 until his first loss during year 3. This marks the longest winning streak.

12) There has been 1 player (Tom Wesley) who has pulled off the La Prima Trifecta (lose all 3 tournaments in a year). The La Prima record stands at 8 last place finishes by Tom & Gene Kulp.

13) The Tour website (www.theforetour.net) was created to be a book of memories for all of us. It is always updated each year with new information, pictures, stats, and other things to never forget.

14) The 1st ever FORE Tour in 2014 wasn't called the FORE Tour. It was called "Masters Scramble Weekend". The following year the name was changed.

15) Only 1 woman (Mike's mother Marnie Kaminski) has ever played on the Tour, and only because a substitution was needed on the final day.

16) There's no other golf tournament you've ever played that has a game called Deuces. Mike created "Deuces" in year 1 and was just a simple way to turn "2's" into cash payouts. The game was meant to be simple for calculating while intoxicated!

17) Though some folks we haven't invited back, no one has ever been kicked out of the FORE Tour... yet! LOL

18) Jimmy Manoff has a painting (or 2) he personally painted hanging in the Mansion. Can you find the Manoffs?

19) Each year, the video invitation has a new intro. The person (or people) who are most memorable the year before make the spotlight appearance in the intro.

20) A 4-team playoff (out of 9 teams) is the biggest playoff the Tour has ever had for one Tournament (2022), and the playoff match was a Putt-Off.

21) The 1st golf course ever played on the Tour was Black Diamond. It is located in Millersburg. What we didn't know was that Millersburg is located in a dry County! Sooo.. the very 1st FORE Tour course ever we couldn't even buy a beer! LOL. Thank God we were prepared for the worst!

22) The FORE Tour officially branded the Pine Lakes Golf Club Tournament day as the Masters of Pine Lakes in 2022, and it became the major tournament of the Tour. The other 2 days were branded as Tournaments in 2023, the year of the 10 year Anniversary (The Memorial Tournament and The Players Tournament).

23) In the history of the Tour, 2 players currently hold a 100% win rate, with only 1 round being played for each: Zach Engle & Seth Adelmann. The year after past player Todd Adelman died, we honored him by having his son play in the Memorial Tournament, and his team won! This was part of the inspiration behind the branding of this day 1 Tournament. Zach was a sub day 1, and he won The Memorial as well.

24) If anything ever happens to Mike, he wishes you guys will all work together to continue the FORE Tour tradition exactly as we've built it, to be passed on to your friends and children to enjoy for years to come!!
